What About Other Holidays
In the teachings of the Urantia Book, there is no explicit endorsement of specific holidays or celebrations for followers of Jesus. However, the Book does place a strong focus on the importance of spiritual communion, worship, and the recognition of significant events in the life of Jesus.
It is certainly not inappropriate for followers to engage in observances that focus on the spiritual dimensions of life and the teachings of Jesus. These observances can include regular gatherings for worship, prayer, and the study of spiritual truths. The Urantia Book speaks of cultivating the inner life and personal relationship with the Father, so we may find solace and inspiration in private contemplation and reflection.
While mainstream holidays may be observed by Jesusonians (followers of Jesus), the emphasis should be on the spiritual essence and significance of these occasions rather than adhering to specific cultural or religious rituals. For instance, Christmas could be celebrated as a time to reflect on the spiritual gift of Jesus to humanity, emphasizing the divine nature of his mission and the universal love of God.
The Urantia Book places a strong emphasis on the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of humankind. Thus, any celebrations or observances should promote unity, love, and understanding among individuals. Such observances would obviously go above and beyond cultural and religious differences. The teachings of Jesus were about unity, not barriers.
As disciples of Jesus, we are encouraged to seek personal spiritual experiences and strive to live a life according to the teachings of Jesus, creating a deeper connection with the Father and assisting our fellow brothers and sisters.
